From dropping out of high school to becoming the first space tourist: the story of Jared Isaacman

Jared Isaacman, known for his success in the world of electronic payments, has made history in space exploration. At 41, Isaacman has gone from being an entrepreneur to a pioneer of space tourism.

According to Infobae, Isaacman left school at the age of 15 to follow his passion for technology. From the basement of his home in New Jersey, he began creating websites for small businesses.

Isaacman later ventured into the world of electronic payments and founded Shift4 Payments, a company that now has more than 200,000 customers worldwide.

According to the BBC, the businessman has an estimated net worth of US$1.9 billion.

In 2022, Isaacman purchased three space missions from Elon Musk’s SpaceX as part of the Polaris program. Although the cost has not been disclosed, these missions are paving the way for space tourism.

On September 12, 2024, Isaacman and his team conducted a spacewalk 700 kilometers from Earth. It was a historic moment, and along with him were Scott Poteet, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, and SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.

“At home we have a lot of work to do (…) But from here, the Earth looks like a perfect world”were the first words of the American businessman and billionaire

This mission demonstrates that in the near future, traveling to space and exploring the universe could be a reality for more people, not just professional astronauts.
