22-year-old Beaton was seriously injured during an operational activity in his service in the Nahal. During the activity, an armored vehicle in which Shaliu was traveling was severely hit by a projectile. Shaliu suffered severe injuries to his hands and legs, which included fractures and damage to arteries and nerves, which required many surgeries.
