ChatGPT: YouTuber modifies a calculator and can now use OpenAI’s artificial intelligence

A YouTuber has shown how a calculator can do much more, and even access the artificial intelligence from OpenAI. You can now work with ChatGPT thanks to some modifications.

Chromalock is the YouTuber who worked on the device, a Texas Instruments TI-84 graphing calculator. The intention was to connect it to the Internet and from there access OpenAI’s AI.

Although it seems simple, the work was hard. The YouTuber published his experience in the video titled I Made The Ultimate Cheating Device. To achieve the change, he developed his own software and hardware, according to a report by Xataka. He can also download some games and other applications.

Along the way, engineering challenges had to be overcome, such as voltage incompatibilities and signal integrity issues. Another detail is the ethical dilemma, as the project can serve as a means of cheating.

That is to say, using this calculator can lead to cheating on knowledge tests. Although, the same youtuber has indicated that writing long alphanumeric questions on a limited keyboard is slow and cumbersome. In addition, it is not a commercial modification.

The YouTuber even added some features such as memory erasure, in case it is detected during an exam. Although it is not infallible and the consequences can be serious for a student.
