Sports and Looney Tunes have been a winning combination since Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig shared the court with Michael Jordan in the 1996 film “Space Jam,” so it’s surprising that, with a few exceptions, Warner’s most famous animated characters Bros. don’t usually star in sports video games.
This drought came to an end this September 27 with the release of “Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports”, a video game created by the Peruvian studio Bamtang Games in which the iconic Warner Bros. characters. They compete in disciplines such as soccer, basketball, golf and tennis.
Although you don’t think it will be the usual version of these sports, thanks to the inclusion of ACME products such as cakes, anvils and even shoes with rockets to modify the sporting feats of the participants, all with the option of playing with up to three other people through a local multiplayer mode.
“We designed the game thinking about fun for the whole family, but also about offering a challenge for those who want to master each discipline to perfection,” said Bamtang Games. “All this, of course, accompanied by the unmatched humor of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety and more characters loved by everyone.”
The Peruvian studio highlighted how this launch marks a milestone for the video game development industry in the country. “More and more global franchises trust the talent of Peruvian developers, which fills us with pride,” they noted. And there are reasons for this, since since its foundation in 2002 Bamtang Games has managed to develop titles for media giants such as DreamWorks, Nickelodeon and even the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” franchise.
“Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports” is now available on all major video game platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and for PC on Steam and Epic Store.
