Artificial intelligence on the iPhone: the expected innovations in Apple Intelligence

Soon, Apple will release a software update that will integrate its new artificial intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, into iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. The update will include new features designed to improve the user experience, focusing on images, texts and the personal assistant Siri. This is a significant step for Apple, whose goal is to lead the artificial intelligence market and catch up with the gap that has been created against competitors such as OpenAI and Google in recent years.

The first innovations as part of the update include capabilities such as automatic transcription of audio recordings, automatic editing of texts, and cleaning of images from disturbing objects. This update is mainly intended to make daily operations easier for users, but it does not include all the features that are expected to be added to the system in the coming year. One of the interesting capabilities is Siri’s ability to provide help in managing Apple’s various devices, with the aim of simplifying the use of the various features of the operating system.

And these are the main tools in Apple Intelligence:

1. Transcription of audio recordings
Among the most useful tools that come with the update is the audio transcription option in the Voice Memos app. Now, when recording voice messages or meetings, it will be possible to receive an accurate textual transcription alongside the file. This is an important upgrade for users who need fast and convenient access to recorded content, especially for business people and students. However, in the first stage it will be possible in English, and later in other languages. The date of the integration of Hebrew has not yet been announced, but it is assumed that it will not happen in the coming months.

2. Improved assistance from Siri
The personal assistant Siri gets a significant upgrade. Now, users will be able to get more advanced help in managing Apple devices, with clear instructions on using apps and hidden features. This is a tool that will make it easier for users to get the most out of Apple’s complex system, especially when it comes to functions that are deep in the settings menus. Siri will initially be able to talk to certain applications, and perform a number of tasks that are interconnected. However, it will not yet fully support Hebrew.

3. Text editing tool
Another improvement is in the field of texts: Apple Intelligence includes tools for automatic editing of texts, such as creating quick replies to email messages. These tools make it easier to write and edit quickly, especially for users who need effective communication solutions during the day.

4. Cleaning images (Clean Up)
Despite the high anticipation of the photo cleaning feature, the initial reviews indicate problems with the quality of the result. The feature was designed to remove unwanted objects such as additional people in the image, but in various experiments a disappointing result was obtained, with the objects being replaced by fuzzy and unclear pixels. Despite the potential, this is a feature that still needs improvements.

5. Summary of texts
Another feature is the ability to summarize texts from emails, websites and documents. Although this is an interesting feature that allows you to generate quick summaries, it is not always accurate. For example, when a web article was compiled, the result included critical errors. This feature is not yet ready for full use, and users will have to wait for future updates. Here too, there is no Hebrew support yet.

The update is expected to be available for the newer devices, including the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro, along with some iPad and Mac models released in the last four years.
