Design AI airplanes that don’t need pilots

Embraer’s AI passenger plane is designed to fly fully autonomously and does not have a cockpit like a conventional aircraft.

The fully autonomous private jet design introduced by aerospace company Embraer represents a future breakthrough, according to Sun. The company partnered with Bombardier to deliver a vision of business jets controlled by artificial intelligence. At the National Business Aviation Association event in Orlando, Florida, Embraer announced plans to produce a mid-range AI aircraft model.

The new aircraft has a cabin divided into 3 zones with spacious seating space and windows with touch screens. The vehicle is also designed to operate entirely on sustainable fuel. The engine is not located in the wings but is stacked on top of each other and has 3 air intakes, including one on the top of the fuselage and the remaining two on the sides. The aircraft also has a V-tail never before seen on a business jet and an engine configuration with two turbofan engines in the tail.

“The design is a fully automated aircraft, requiring no cockpit and featuring a new cabin configuration such as a forward lounge. Sustainability is at the core of the aircraft with a fuel-based green technology propulsion system SAF, electrification and hydrogen,” Embraer shares. However, Embraer did not reveal plans to develop and produce the aircraft model.

Several other aviation companies are also developing vehicles similar to Embrear’s AI business jet, including Cirrus and HondaJet, which would provide autonomous flight functionality in an emergency if the pilot experiences problems and Cannot land the plane.
