Google launches new anti-theft functions with AI for Android cell phones

Google has begun implementing new anti-theft security features in the cell phones Android. Among these new features are Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock, which will allow the device to be automatically blocked in the event of theft, providing more robust protection for users.

The function Theft Detection Lock It is one of the most outstanding features. This tool automatically detects if the phone has been stolen directly from the user’s hand. If theft is activated, the device is immediately locked, restricting access to applications and personal data. Google has indicated that the detection is carried out thanks to a new machine learning model.

Another innovative feature is the Offline Device Lock which locks your phone if you remain disconnected from the internet for an extended period. Although Google does not specify the exact time, this measure seeks to protect the device even when thieves try to isolate it from the network.

Lastly, Google has also introduced Remote Lock which allows you to lock your phone from another Android device, even if the “Find My Device” app cannot be accessed. This function is located in the system settings menu, making it easy to use and configure.

These features are already beginning to roll out globally, and will be available for all devices running Android 10 or higher in the coming weeks. Users will be able to configure them directly from the system settings menu.
