MediaTek has introduced its new flagship mobile device processor, Dimensity 9400, offering greater speed and performance and a platform designed for the new era of agents. artificial intelligence (IA).
Dimensity 9400 is equipped with an eighth generation neural processing unit (NPU) with which it aims to drive the new next wave of agent-based generative AI and keep mobile devices at the forefront of innovation with this technology and support for multimodal language models, such as Gemini Nano.
The semiconductor firm has highlighted the speed of this processor aimed at high-end mobile devices, flagship computers. This is due to the second generation large core design of the CPU (Arm Cortex-X925) which runs at 3.62 Ghz.
This translates to up to 35 percent faster single-core performance and up to 28 percent faster multi-core performance compared to the previous generation flagship Dimensity, as MediaTek noted in a press release.
This chip also drives an improved user experience, improving control consistency with a touch response of less than 100ms and an activation response deviation of less than 12ms. It also improves application cold start speed by up to 35 percent.
Using the 3-nanometer manufacturing process also boosts energy efficiency, with an improvement of up to 40 percent. It is compatible with the LPDDR5X 10667 RAM memory standard, “the fastest” for smartphones.
The twelve-core GPU uses the Immortalis-G925 architecture, which enhances traditional graphics with ray tracing, a technology that offers “desktop PC-like capabilities.” It also includes the set of MediaTek HyperEngine gaming technologies.
Dimensity 9400 also supports HDR video capture across the entire zoom range with Imagiq 1090 and with AI support delivers photos with 100X magnification and sharp details. It also records 4K60 video continuously for three hours. In audio, it supports up to 6 microphones and 24-bit recording and Bluetooth lossless audio up to 24-bit/384 Khz.
This processor also has support for 5G, with up to 7 Gbps of sub-6 Ghz performance, as well as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connection. And when it comes to photography, it supports triple-lens cameras on devices with larger screens.
