It is hard to forget the scenes of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus filled with rubble after the earthquake on March 22, 2020. The basilica was consecrated in 1902, and was badly damaged in an earthquake 118 years later. In the second largest church in Zagreb, the vault, load-bearing structure, main stone altar, chancel, belfry, gable were badly damaged. So far, more than 20 million euros have been invested in the structural and complete renovation of the basilica, and due to the special method of blasting the vault as well as the installation of “elegant” structures inside the basilica, it could find its place in the classrooms of newer generations. If everything unfolds according to the desired dynamics, the faithful could celebrate God’s Day in Palmoti. in 2025
