The Xbox app will allow you to play and buy games on Android starting in November

Starting next month, the Xbox application will allow you to play and buy video games directly on devices with the Android operating system, as a result of the ruling that forces Google to open its application store in the United States.

Google must allow third-party app stores to have access to the Play Store catalog in the United States and can download them under the same conditions as if it were done from the technology giant’s own platform.

This obligation follows the court order issued earlier this week by Judge James Donato in the case that has pitted Google and Epic Games against each other for several years, and impacts other developers and companies in the sector, such as Xbox.

Precisely, the president of Xbox, Sarah Bond, has confirmed through her profile on X (formerly Twitter) that “starting in November, players will be able to play and buy Xbox games directly from the Xbox application on Android.”

In addition, Microsoft is working on its own web-based mobile game store, which will allow users to access it from any device, and with which it hopes to compete directly with those of Apple and Google with an offer of its own titles that will later be launched. will be expanded with third-party games.

The initial launch of this store was scheduled for July, although it was in August when the testing period began with participants in the Xbox Insiders program.
