Lara Croft returns to consoles and PC with the remastered Tomb Raider Darkness Trilogy

Lara Croft is about to return in a remastered edition of her adventures in Tomb Raider: Aspyr has announced the return of the “Darkness Trilogy” with Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered, a collection that will bring to light three iconic chapters of the saga, originally developed by Core Design. Starting from February 14, 2025, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG) will welcome Lara Croft’s darkest adventures, allowing players to relive them or discover them for the first time time with a renewed graphic design and modern features. The collection will cost 30 euros in digital stores.

In Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999) Lara will have to face the consequences of an ancient Egyptian prophecy and the wrath of the god Set, inadvertently freed from his tomb. Pursued by her rival, the archaeologist Werner Von Croy, she will have to cross Egypt solving intricate puzzles and escaping deadly traps. In Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000) friends and acquaintances are gathered to commemorate Lara after her presumed death, revealing previously unseen details about her past and adventures. This chapter introduces new game mechanics such as stealth and balance, adding variety to the experience. Finally, in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003) Lara is accused of murder and to exonerate herself she must unravel a conspiracy that threatens the entire world, on a journey that will lead her to face alchemical experiments and the search for ancient artifacts.

Aspyr will not only re-propose the three games, but has introduced a series of improvements to make them more appealing to the modern audience. The graphics have been remastered, with the ability to switch between the original and revamped looks at any time. The controls have been updated, offering the choice between the classic style and a more fluid system inspired by the most recent entries in the series. There is also a photo mode, with new poses and all those already present in Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered. And to top it off, general improvements such as health bars for bosses and new trophies and achievements have been added.
