Apple has released an experimental version of the artificial intelligence

After a long wait – the technology giant from Cupertino, dark on Wednesday released the developer beta version of its new operating system, which includes a variety of AI-based features, including the integration of ChatGPT, one of the company’s long-awaited features. The beta version includes the features that are expected to come into use soon among the owners of the new iPhones from the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, with the company hoping that the improvements will lead to a wave of widespread upgrades among users.

Currently, Apple’s artificial intelligence known as Apple Intelligence is available in a preview version for developers and early adopters, but the wide public release is expected to take place next week as part of the iOS 18.1 update. The iOS 18.2 beta released on Wednesday included the new features that developers can start testing.

Among the innovations in this version can be found

    • New ability to rewrite texts: Users can describe how they want Apple Intelligence to rewrite text segments.

    • Genmoji: a new emoji generator from Apple that allows the creation of personalized illustrated icons.

    • Image Playground: An AI-based image generator that allows users to create new images using artificial intelligence technology.

    • Image Wand: A feature that allows users to remove objects or distractions from existing images.

    • ChatGPT Integration: The long-awaited feature that allows users to receive more sophisticated ChatGPT-based answers from OpenAI.

Despite the innovations, one key feature is still missing: Siri’s ability to perform actions within apps. This feature is not included in the current update but is expected to be released soon.

At Apple’s developer conference held in June 2024, the integration with ChatGPT was demonstrated. When Siri is asked a question that it recognizes as one that would be better directed to ChatGPT, it will ask the user for permission to send the question. The user is not required to have an OpenAI account to use this feature, and he will also be able to use ChatGPT to create texts in text fields.

In addition, ChatGPT will be part of a feature called Visual Intelligence, in which the iPhone camera will be able to recognize texts or objects and even translate signs in real time.

The partnership between Apple and OpenAI is a significant achievement for OpenAI, which is currently valued at $157 billion after a funding round held earlier this month. CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altmanseen at Apple headquarters in Cupertino when the integration was announced. This partnership came after Microsoft began integrating OpenAI’s artificial intelligence models into its products.

Despite the partnership with OpenAI, Apple and OpenAI have not released financial details of the agreement between them. However, Apple executives have hinted that integrations with other artificial intelligence models, including Google’s, may be added over time.
