They develop a 740 HP engine for a hypercar that only emits water vapor

Alpine has unveiled its new Hy6 V6 hydrogen engine during the Paris Motor Show, with an impressive power of 740 HP. This engine is designed for the Alpenglow hypercar, conceived as a high-tech laboratory that aims to transform automobile competition towards a more sustainable future.

The Alpenglow, which had been presented as a concept car, now has a 3.5 liter V6 engine which doubles the power of its original version. This new development allows the car to reach a top speed of more than 330 km/hall while emitting only water vapor thanks to the use of hydrogen as fuel.

Although this vehicle is mainly intended for competition tracks, Alpine does not rule out that the Hy6 V6 technology could reach production vehicles in the future. The engine has been designed to achieve 9,000 revolutions per minute, with aerodynamic innovations that optimize both vehicle performance and efficiency.

In addition, the French manufacturer has placed special emphasis on the safety of the use of hydrogen, with pressurized tanks and advanced systems to avoid abnormal combustions. All this with the aim of guaranteeing maximum performance and safety on high competition circuits.

The Alpenglow and its powerful engine are the result of the collaboration between Alpine and Oreca, and have been developed with Formula 1 methodologies. With this, the manufacturer aspires to lead the way towards a decarbonization of the world of competition without giving up sound and power characteristics of combustion engines.
