The cards have been reshuffled: Nvidia has changed the rules of the game in Israeli high-tech

After five consecutive years at the top of the list of leading high-tech companies, a dramatic reversal occurred when Nvidia overtook Microsoft. Dunn & Bradstreet’s tenth ranking for 2024 reveals an interesting picture of the Israeli high-tech market.

Yael Belgrai-Cohen, director of the high-tech sector at Dunn & Bradstreet, warns that the coming period in the industry is expected to continue to be challenging, with the continued decline in business activity, difficulties in raising capital, budget cuts and layoffs.

The main findings show significant changes in the industry. Nvidia jumped from eighth place to first place, pushing Microsoft into second place for the first time in five years. At the same time, there was a decrease in the satisfaction of the employees when it comes to the balance between work life and personal life.

Another problem that emerges from the research is the difficulty of inexperienced workers to successfully integrate into high-tech companies. Also, the employees of the Internet industry report relatively low salary levels compared to the other high-tech fields, and the chances of promotion in large companies are perceived as lower.

Another worrying trend is the significant decrease in the satisfaction of startup employees regarding their professional development options. Companies like Sentinel One and Orca Security experienced a dramatic drop of 11 places in the rankings.

The ranking was conducted on the basis of a comprehensive study that examined hundreds of high-tech companies and startups in a variety of parameters, including the impact of the “Iron Swords” war, the ability to influence employees, technological environment, career development, contribution to the community, employment stability, salary and employment conditions, professional challenge and work-home balance. The study included questionnaires addressed to both employees and HR managers.
