Dubai builds super thin skyscrapers

Dubai is planning to build a super narrow skyscraper that is only as wide as an apartment. The Muraba Veil building will reach a height of 380 meters but is only about 22.5 meters wide, according to details shared by the architects, New Atlas reported on November 1.

The 73-story building will include 131 apartments, each with 2 to 5 bedrooms. Muraba Company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the contractor in charge of the project, said the luxury apartment complex will have a series of entertainment amenities such as spas, restaurants, galleries, padel courts and theaters. private movie screening.

The project will be built next to the canal near Dubai’s main artery, Sheikh Zayed Road. Muraba Veil is a design by the Spanish architectural company RCR Arquitectes, which won the prestigious Pritzker Prize, considered the “Nobel of Architecture” in 2017. This is the 5th collaboration between Muraba and RCR Arquitectes. As expected, the Muraba Veil building will be completed in December 2028.

Each apartment will fill the entire width of the building and is modeled after a traditional Arab house, with a courtyard, lots of shade and greenery. The building’s design is revealed behind several layers, with the first layer being a “veil” made from hollow and adjustable stainless steel mesh that reflects various shades of the sky. According to Rafael Aranda, founder of RCR Arquitectes, the building will be part of the local landscape, connected to nature and steeped in local culture.
