Koalas like the leaves. Life is mostly spent digesting food.

About nicotine pouches became an embarrassing farce when only flavors made by one company were allowed in the law. They were strange, like tea, wood and rosemary.

Australian there are two allowed flavors in a koala bear’s life: eucalyptus and wood. The animal leaves eucalyptus leaves day after day and doesn’t do anything else in its life. Does it taste like wood?

At issue is even a toxic pleasure substance. Although eucalyptus is commonly used as a flavoring agent, pure eucalyptus oil and the plant’s leaves are toxic, especially in the amounts ingested by koalas. Half a kilo a day is the intake recommendation for koalas as well.

However, the koala’s digestion is specialized to process eucalyptus toxins and extract all the energy from this rather low-nutrient plant. The koala has a cecum no less than two meters long, which is full of bacteria that break down plant matter.

Koala is picky: it sniffs leaves and only eats varieties with a certain taste.

A koala’s life is mostly spent digesting food, like a nobleman. It sits poking on a branch on its strong rear and sleeps up to 20 hours a day.

Sound nice, but actually the koala is doing a bit poorly.

Australia’s koala populations have collapsed in a hundred years, and in some areas the koala is already considered endangered. The spread of human settlement, forest fires and diseases are punishing koalas.

Mapping koala populations is also challenging, as the animals burrow into trees so effectively.

They say that if you want to find a koala, you shouldn’t look up into the branches, but down to the ground. If you see dry papayas at the base of the tree, there is probably a koala living in the tree.

If if a koala were to try to inject its own favorite flavors into the law, e.g. eucalyptus, it would be caught immediately.

Koalas have clearly distinguishable fingerprints, just like humans. It would then be easy to check from the paper who has pissed off the government about this taste show.
