Tenth edition of CSET, international conference on cybersecurity

Start 4.0 announces the tenth edition of CSET 2024, the International Conference on Cybersecurity, which will be held on 12 and 13 November at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa. The event, which represents a point of reference for professionals in the sector, will see the participation of high-level experts from institutions, companies and international organisations.

This year’s conference will address crucial topics including cybersecurity and geopolitics; Artificial Intelligence, IoT, 5G and Automotive; deep fakes and the management of human error in cyber attacks; supply chain and certification of Essential Service Operators (OSE). The opening of the conference, scheduled for the morning of November 12th, will see greetings from Paola Girdinio, President of Start 4.0, Marco Bucci, new President of the Liguria Region, Federico Delfino, Rector of the University of Genoa and Kassim RAMJI, British Consul General and Country Director.

Immediately afterwards, a session dedicated to the interaction between cybersecurity and the geopolitical context will open, with exceptional guests such as Roberta Pinotti, former Minister of Defense and Giuseppe Aufiero, Commander of the Armed Forces Telecommunications School. The role of cybersecurity in the hybrid wars of our time will be a common thread along with the role of new technologies to defend against hackers. A fearsome weapon at the disposal of cyber-criminals, for example, artificial intelligence can constitute, if safe, reliable and robust, an extraordinary support to defend against their actions. Manuele Marra, from Leonardo’s Cyber ​​& Security Solutions Division, will talk about it, opening the speeches of the industrial experts with a keynote speech entitled “Ensuring the global security of critical infrastructure in an AI-dominated world
”.

Next, we will talk about the increasingly urgent challenges for the industrial and manufacturing sector in OT (Operational Technology) protection. The requirements for compliance with new regulations will be explored in depth, such as NIS2, the Machinery Decree, and the Cyber ​​Resilience Act, recently approved by the European Parliament, which sets increasingly stringent standards to guarantee the security of industrial networks and devices.

In these ten years, the conference has become an unmissable event for anyone who wants to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to cybersecurity,” he declares Paola Girdinio, President of Start 4.0. “This year, in particular, we want to delve deeper into the evolution of cyber threats and the increasingly close integration between digital and physical security, with a special focus on critical infrastructures and the resilience of supply chains”.

Over the course of the two days, round tables and interventions will alternate on key topics for national cybersecurity, with the participation of experts of the caliber of Milena Rizzi, Director of the Regulation Service at the ACN (National Cybersecurity Agency) and the CISOs of the main companies in the country, from Enel, Leonardo, A2A, Ansaldo Energia, Iren, Cisco Italia and Fincantieri. Particular attention will be given to the risks related to Deep Fakes, with a panel moderated by Alessio Aceti, CEO of HWG Sababa, to talk about an increasingly pervasive phenomenon that threatens not only information security, but also user trust in digital systems and how artificial intelligence is changing the protection of industrial systems will be explored.

In the end, a panel will be dedicated to the presentation of the CLUSIT October 2024 report and the story of a public-private synergy project in the banking and insurance sector. Start 4.0 and Unipol Assicurazioni, together with partner BPER, have started a collaboration to help Italian companies improve their digital maturity and their level of IT security, offering a tool to SMEs to be more aware of the risks and be better prepared in case of necessity, positively influencing the entire supply chain.
