iOS 18.2: new operating system arrives with Apple Intelligence functions such as Genmoji and Image Playground

Apple has launched the new public beta versions of its iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 operating systems, which include new features. Apple Intelligenceas is the case of the tool to create custom ’emojis’ Genmoji and the function to generate Image Playground images, in addition to integrating ChatGPT into Siri.

The technology company has begun to test new functions with users on its iPhone, iPad and Mac computers, which continue to expand the capabilities of its Apple Intelligence ecosystem powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In this sense, Apple has made the public betas of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 available to users, with which it has implemented new Apple Intelligence functions and has integrated ChatGPT capabilities into the Siri assistant.

With these updates, Apple has implemented functions that had been previously delayed, such as Genmoji and Image Playground, as media such as MacRummors and The Verge have seen.

In the case of Genmoji, users will be able to create new ’emojis’ using generative AI. For its part, Image Playground allows you to generate new images in a matter of seconds from text descriptions and with different styles, since it can generate animated content, in drawing format or as an illustration. Users can even use a photograph as a base to create a related image.

It must be taken into account that, as MacRummors has clarified, the Genmoji function has been launched for iOS and iPadOS 18.2. However, at the moment, it is not available for macOS Sequoia.

In addition to all this, the new beta versions have also implemented the integration of ChatGPT in Siri, which will be able to offer improved responses to user queries, by having the AI ​​capabilities of the OpenAI ‘chatbot’.

Regarding Visual Intelligence, the tool that allows you to obtain information about objects and places by simply pointing the camera, in the style of Google Lens, is also available with the iOS 18.2 beta, although exclusively for the iPhone 16.

Thus, the new Apple Intelligence functions and the integration of ChatGPT in Siri can now be tested with the installation of the beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2. To access them, interested users must enroll in the Apple Beta Software program by registering their Apple ID.

It is worth remembering that, at the moment, the AI-powered ecosystem is only available on devices configured in English in the United States. Therefore, its arrival in Europe and, specifically, in Spain, is not yet planned.
