Bluesky added more than 700,000 new users in the last week and reached 14.5 million registered accounts in total

Bluesky has shared that he has added more than 700,000 new users registered in the application during the last week, most of them belonging to the United States, which translates into a total of 14.5 million users that are currently part of the platform.

The ‘microblogging’ social network, which began operating in 2019, offers users a space to share your posts, based on an “open and decentralized” standard“. It is thus an alternative to other similar applications, such as X (former Twitter) or Threads, owned by Meta.

In this sense, the platform already reported in September of this year that it reached a total of 10 million registered users in its application, adding “a million new users”, many of them registered after the blocking of its main competitor X in Brazil.

Following this line, Bluesky recently also shared in a publication that added half a million new users in one dayafter X’s announcement about the implementation of new changes to its platform, such as the new locking systemwhich allows blocked accounts to continue seeing posts as long as they have been shared publicly.

Now, the Bluesky COO Rose Wanghas confirmed to The Verge that the social network has gained more than 700,000 new users during the last weekwith which it has managed to achieve a total of 14.5 million of users on its platform.

According to Wang, the “most” of the new users registered on the social network come from the United States. Furthermore, with the new users who have joined, Bluesky has established itself as the second free social network application with the most users in the App Storebehind Threads.

The influx of new users on Bluesky coincides with Donald Trump’s recent victory in the US presidential elections, who has had the support of Elon Musk, owner of X and main competitor of Bluesky. This could have motivated said migration, as suggested by media such as the one mentioned.
