HWG Sababa brings together cybersecurity experts for networking and innovation

HWG Sababa, in the splendid setting of Villa Lo Zerbino in Genoa, hosted an event that brought together cybersecurity experts to address the challenges and opportunities of the contemporary cyber landscape. The meeting, which anticipated the inauguration of the CSET Conference 2024offered a unique opportunity for discussion and reflection on the topic of security in critical infrastructures, with a particular focus on the energy and transport sectors. The international conference, which will be held today and tomorrow at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa, will explore the frontiers of innovation and security in these strategic areas.

Welcoming the over 150 guests were the CEO of HWG Sababa Alessio Aceti and the President Enrico Orlandiwho introduced the central themes of the evening, stimulating an open dialogue between cybersecurity professionals, critical infrastructure specialists and representatives of leading bodies at national level. Among the personalities present, also the British Consul General Kassim RAMJI, who brought the institutional greeting.

Among the notable interventions, Paola Girdinio, President of the MIMIT Start 4.0 Competence Center, underlined the fundamental role of the Center in promoting safe digitalisation for Italian companies. “This tenth edition of the CSET reflects our growth path and constant collaboration with cutting-edge companies such as HWG SababaGirdinio said. The numbers we record are proof of the concrete impact of our Competence Center, offering advanced tools and training to companies to safely face the challenges of industry 4.0.

Giovanni Battista Gaggero, CEO of AIrFIELD Security, presented the AIrFIELD projectborn from research at the University of Genoa to create practical solutions to defend company infrastructures from cyber criminals. “Our technologies put artificial intelligence at the service not only of the security of industrial networks, but also of the safety of production plants, protecting both infrastructures and people,” Gaggero explained. “There are already numerous probes and anomaly detection solutions on the market that operate on Ethernet networks, but with the AIrFIELD project we have gone further: we have expanded OT visibility to also include serial networks, such as Modbus. This approach allows you to maximize the ROI of security solutions already in use, offering an unprecedented level of visibility and ensuring integrated and complete protection even for the most complex infrastructures.”

Ivan Monti, CISO of Ansaldo Energia, shared his experience in tackling the infosharing problem between companies. “As the CISO of a large company that operates internationally, I have often found myself faced with the need to collaborate with other CISOs and companies to exchange information on tactics and procedures used by attackers. Working together is essential to build a cohesive response to cyber threats and contribute to the resilience of our country,” Monti explained. From this need, ISACCHAIN was born, a blockchain-based infosharing platform that guarantees confidentiality, ensures timely sharing of indicators of compromise and automates reporting to the authorities in the event of incidents, in line with the NIS2 directive”.

The event confirmed itself as an important opportunity for networking and in-depth analysis, with debates on current topics such as recent technological developments in OT security and the impact of the new security standards of the NIS2 Directive on companies.

We are proud to have hosted this event for the fifth consecutive year. It is a precious moment to discuss how to strengthen the security of digital infrastructures and make our companies more resilient”, concluded Alessio Aceti, CEO of HWG Sababa. “Special thanks go to all the partners: B-Right Lawyers, CrowdStrike, Delinea, Dell Technologies, Equixly, Record Future, Proofpoint, Tenable, Trend Micro who contributed, to the speakers who shared their expertise, and to the colleagues who made such a successful event possible. A sincere thank you also to Paola Girdinio, President of the MIMIT Start 4.0 Competence Center, for her fundamental contribution and continuous support in promoting digital security”.
