Apple will launch its new AirTag model in mid-2025, which will arrive with more range and privacy improvements

Apple is preparing the launch of its new AirTag model by the middle of next year 2025which will include improvements such as a greater reach and Improved wireless chip and privacy advances since its design will make it difficult to deactivate the device’s speaker, according to Gurman.

The technology company launched AirTags, designed to locate objects such as backpacks, keys or wallets, in 2021. It is a tool that, thanks to Apple’s U1 chip, offers tracking capability using ultra-wideband technology.

However, as announced in May of this year, Apple is currently working on the new version of the AirTagcon codename B589who plans launch “in the middle of next year” in order to introduce improvements in tracking and tracing.

In this sense, the new AirTag has “advanced manufacturing testing“, and three improvements have been integrated into its capabilities, including a greater reacha chip Improved wireless and advances in privacy.

This has been detailed by sources related to the technology in statements to Bloomberg analyst and journalist, Mark Gurman, who have also assured that the new AirTag will look similar to the current model, as shared in his latest newsletter ‘Power On’.

Specifically, regarding privacy improvements, Gurman has referred to the fact that some users have used the device as a tool to monitor the location of people without their knowledge, deactivating the speaker that integrates the AirTag to warn users if it is being used in a hidden way.

To avoid this malicious use, the new AirTag has been specifically designed to make it more difficult to disable the device’s built-in speaker. These privacy improvements are part of Apple’s commitment to making the tracking device “be more tamper-proof”, as the analyst has pointed out.

In fact, the technology company also announced in May the launch of the new ‘Unwanted Location Tracker Detection’ industrial specificationdeveloped together with Google. With this, the system (iOs and Android) will alert users when the use of unknown Bluetooth tracking devices, such as AirTags, is identified in order to mitigate misuse.
