American manufacturer Chip’s Nvidia reported on Thursday that it closed the third quarter with almost twice as much revenue thanks to a surge in demand for artificial intelligence.
In the period from July to September, Nvidia’s revenue amounted to 35.1 billion dollars and was almost twice as much as last year, according to business results published on Thursday.
Net profit more than doubled, jumping to $19.3 billion.
Nvidia’s čip systems are used worldwide for applications that use artificial intelligence. They are used by tech giants such as Google and Meta, for data centers, but also by artificial intelligence startups, such as OpenAI developed by ChatGPT.
In such conditions, Nvidia’s revenue from the sale of technology for data centers in the third quarter more than doubled, to $30.8 billion.
In the current quarter, the company intends to market the first systems with the new Blackwell chip for artificial intelligence, warning at the same time that in the coming quarters the demand for Blackwell and for the current generation of chips will exceed the supply.
Management estimates that revenue in the fourth quarter will amount to $37.5 billion, plus or minus two percent.
