Airwallex will support entrepreneurs and start-ups to the extent of 1% of the company’s value

The fintech and international payments giant Airwallex, which has a global platform for payments and financial services that entered the Israeli market last year, launched Airwallex Impact, a powerful global impact program under which it undertakes to allocate 1% of the company’s resources to philanthropic ventures. The resources that will be allocated include time resources of the employees, income and products that will be donated to the innovation community.

During this, Airwalks joins leading global technology companies participating in the Pledge 1% program, including Atlassian, Canva, Airbnb, Okta, Reddit, Salesforce. Following the joining of Pledge 1% and the allocation of 56 million dollars, which is about 1% of the value of Airwalks today – the company formulated a sustainable and continuous operating model in the field of its corporate philanthropy. The current financial allocation will increase as the company grows and is the basis for a greater contribution in the field of social impact. The new activity is added to a series of donations that the company has given, including: 3 million Australian dollars to the University of Melbourne, which funded scholarships for 43 students, 40% of whom are women and 56% of whom are students from around the world. On top of that, Airwalks gave financial assistance worth $150,000 to 65 students for their running expenses during their studies. These students joined the Airwalks community in a variety of ways. In the two years since the launch of the program, the company’s employees have donated 400 hours to these students, during which they accompanied them in an internship at the company and guided them in formal trainings.

The Airwallex Impact program will expand the scope of this activity through philanthropic partnerships and support the next generation of investors and entrepreneurs through scholarships, training funding and startup incubators. In parallel with the philanthropic activity, Airwalks’ impact program will provide a basket of resources to the innovation community through training programs with the participation of its employees, through the company’s start-up program and financing discounts for selected products for non-profit associations. This last program is financed by the commercial activity of the company.

The Airwalks Startup Program for entrepreneurs and company founders was launched in September 2023, is implemented in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong and will be launched this month in New Zealand. To date, 20,000 startups have joined the program and are benefiting from the company’s efforts to strengthen the ecosystem of the startup community through grants from partners, networking events and other resources tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs. To date, Airwalks has hosted 50 events aimed at fostering the success of start-ups.

The company plans to expand the program worldwide over the next two years. This global activity is based on Airwalks’ proven experience in training and nurturing start-up communities in Australia. In recent years, Airwalks has helped to break down barriers faced by entrepreneurs through knowledge sharing, access to capital, including training funding at the Techstars Australia incubator and grants to early-stage startups in the fields of AI and fintech designed to accelerate their growth.

“Starting in 2025, every 1,600 Airwallex employees will contribute three working days to volunteer activities, a scope of approximately 1% of the working time that will be dedicated to community activities,” said Or Livan, CEO of Airwallex in the Israel and Middle East region. “Two of these three days will be dedicated to activities within Airwalks’ impact program initiatives and one day will be dedicated to activities in the non-profit organization that every employee will choose Also, in the middle of 2025, Airwalks will launch a program under which selected non-profit associations will be able to use the company’s products at a reduced price. The Airwallex branch in Israel also intends to be involved in the program to support the local ecosystem.”

The global fintech giant Airwallex processed transactions in a volume of nearly 500 million dollars in the first year of operation in Israel. In the first quarter of 2024, the company’s revenues in Israel grew at an annual rate of 129% and the volume of transactions increased by 51%. As of August of this year, Airwallex Global was processing more than $100 billion in annual transaction volume, a 73 percent year-over-year increase. Airwallex continues to register an increase in activity volumes in all its products, including clearing, foreign exchange, card transfers and issuances, embedded payments, and an annual run rate of approximately $500 million.
