Given the prejudice of the population’s little interest in science issues, four engineers from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) carried out, separately, scientific dissemination projects related to aeronautics, GMOs, viruses and vaccination through networks and socio-digital platforms, since for them people will always be interested in knowing more, with which they will be able to promote a culture of science in society.
In the Conversus Talks: Superpolytechnic Girls, dissemination of science on social networks, which took place at the Higher School of Computing, Adolfo López Mateos Professional Unit of the Polytechnic, the disseminators of scientific content highlighted the challenge of competing on platforms that are used for leisure, in which the first three seconds are key to attracting attention, in addition to using simple language, without technicalities, and messages that do not exceed 60 seconds.
They explained that the interest in sharing content was born in the covid pandemic, when they made videos related to the virus, and then they diversified the topics. They pointed out that many times the followers are the ones who ask for what to talk about, given the doubts that certain situations generate, or they take advantage of the situation to explain them and at the same time be within the trend.
Train to the Universe It is the project developed by Suzette Cota, an aeronautical engineer, who highlighted that there is little disseminated content in her area. He mentioned that he started with videos that had 10 views and recently reached almost 2 thousand.
Mutant Corn explores agrogenomics science. It is made by Itzel Aguirre, a science teacher, whose short films mainly talk about GMOs.
It is not shimishi It is the project of Jessica Lakshmi, a teacher in chemical-biological sciences, who clarifies doubts about covid, vaccines and medicines, and highlighted the importance of questioning everything, because only in that way can you learn.
Finally, Digesting the Scienceby immunology doctor Blanca García, shares content on medical-biological sciences.
They stressed that they must create strategies to be able to connect with users, because otherwise they will not be interested in the content, but, they added, since science is everywhere we look there is science
There will always be people who want to know more.
