Apple Music has announced that Taylor Swift is the most streamed artist of 2024, with “The Tortured Poets Department” taking the title of most streamed album of the year. The news was greeted with enthusiasm by the singer-songwriter, who shared her joy with fans via an Instagram story. Swift’s success is not surprising. His eleventh studio album spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, led by lead single “Fortnight” (featuring Post Malone), which dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. “The Tortured Poets Department” ranked No. 23 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 best albums of 2024, receiving praise for its fusion of the intimacy of “Folklore” and “Evermore” and the synth-pop of “ Midnights”.
Despite the busy year, which saw her on the highest-grossing world tour of all time, Swift found time to release “The Eras Tour Book” and “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” on vinyl and CD on November 29th. This new Apple Music recognition adds to the Artist of the Year title that Swift had already earned from both Apple Music and Spotify in 2023. This year, the Apple Music title went to Billie Eilish, for her third album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” released in May.
