The integration of ChatGPT to Siri and other new features coming to Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.2

Apple has begun the distribution of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, which bring more features powered by the Apple Intellgence artificial intelligence ecosystem to iPhone and iPad users, such as the integration of ChatGPT and Image Playground.

The range of Apple Intelligent functions has grown this Wednesday with the arrival of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, the latest software update that Apple devices will receive in the remainder of the year.

This update introduces Image Playground, which arrives as a standalone app and as a Messages tool. What it offers is an image generator from a text description or a photo, and creates image suggestions from the content of the conversation.

It also introduces Genmoji, a tool that generates avatars directly from the keyboard and from a description, which can be used in messaging applications.

The update brings improvements to Siri thanks to the integration of ChatGPT, since the OpenAI ‘chatbot’ will act as a complement to Apple’s assistant to deal with more complex issues, and will be available as a writing tool. To use it, you do not need to have a ChatGPT account.

Another novelty is visual intelligence (Visual Intelligence), which offers a Google Lens-style tool that will allow you to obtain information about objects and places by simply pointing the camera.

Aside from the generative AI features, the update brings new features for the AirTag tracking device. Specifically, it allows you to share the location of a lost item with friends and airlines.

Smart features are currently available in English in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Support for more countries and languages, including Spanish, is expected to arrive next year.
