The race for artificial intelligence (IA) has a new chapter with the presentation of Gemini 2.0the most advanced from Google to confront its rivals, and especially to break the dominance of OpenAI with its ChatGPT.
This is the company’s latest and most capable AI model yet, designed in the era of autonomous AI agents.
Its multimodal design enables native generation of multilingual images and audio and native use of smart tools. Its construction is based on the Gemini 1.0 model, which was launched last year.
Among the updates that come with this new stage of Google AI are Gemini 2.0 Flash. This is an experimental version of the 2.0 models that can create or edit images or generate text in different tones.
This option will be available to Gemini Advanced users and developers in AI Studio and Vertex AI.
On the other hand, there is also Project Astra, a research prototype of what could be a universal AI assistant. Combine images, videos and voice into a timeline of events for more natural conversations and efficient information retrieval.
In the line of Internet searches there is Deep Research. This is a new capability for Gemini Advanced users that uses AI to explore complex topics on behalf of whoever is running it, providing findings in a comprehensive report.
Other projects include Mariner, based on how people interact with the web, combining Gemini’s multimodal understanding capabilities with web interaction to automate tasks and take actions on your behalf. Also featured is the Jules project, an experimental AI-powered code agent that can be delegated tasks such as resolving bugs and coding challenges.
