Instagram allows you to schedule the sending of direct messages

Instagram has started implementing a new feature for schedule the sending of direct messages on the social network, so that users will be able to compose a text message in a chat and, after that, choose a specific date and time at which the message in question will be sent.

The social network owned by Meta continues to work on new tools to improve the user experience in direct messages. This is the case of recent developments such as the possibility of share real-time location with other users for a period of one hour through direct messages.

Now, Instagram has started launching a new option designed to schedule sending text messages to users via direct messages (DM)allowing you to choose a specific day and time to send the message to the desired chat automatically.

This has been confirmed by the company led by Mark Zuckerberg in statements to TechCrunch, who have shared that it is a feature that will be available to all users globally.

To schedule a message, just write it in the chat where you want to send and hold down the send button. After that, a configuration menu will be displayed in which you can select the specific day and time of shipping. Finally, just press the send icon again to leave it programmed.

As explained by Instagram on its support page, the messages scheduled in a chat can be seen by clicking on the option ‘Scheduled message’ which will appear at the bottom of the conversation. Likewise, within this option, messages can be deleted to cancel the shipment or, on the contrary, send it immediately.

This is a useful option for situations such as leave scheduled reminder messages, send messages at a certain time to contact people in different time zones or, for example, to content creators or brands who wish to send advertising messages at specific times.

However, it must be taken into account that, for the moment, the programming function is only supports text messages, so those that contain images, videos or GIFs cannot be programmed. Likewise, the social network will only allow you to schedule a message up to 29 days in advanceas confirmed by the aforementioned media.
