This is an annual competition, organized since 2016 to honor the ideas and solutions of the young intellectual community and technology startups. The competition aims to create and promote the application of technology solutions to concretize the digital and green transformation trends of Ho Chi Minh City. This year’s competition is divided into two groups of startup projects in the fields of digital technology and biotechnology.

In the field of digital technology, the first prize (50 million VND) went to a website project applying machine learning models to help screen people at risk of congenital hemolytic disease by a group of authors from the University of Health Sciences. , Ho Chi Minh City National University. Researcher Nguyen Thanh Dat, representative of the group, said that hemolytic anemia is a common genetic disease that can cause severe complications throughout life. To reduce the risk of babies being born with serious illnesses and reduce the burden on medical facilities and families, the group used data from more than 60,000 patients, of whom more than 1,400 were tested for congenital hemolysis to Build an artificial intelligence model that can predict the risk of patients carrying this disease gene.

The team’s model runs on the website, making it easy for medical facilities and hospitals to use, achieving over 98% accuracy in prediction. “The research results can help prenatal counseling for couples, minimizing the problem of babies being born with serious illnesses,” Dat said.

In the field of biotechnology, the first prize (30 million VND) went to the high-density microbial fermentation project to improve degraded soil, purify water, and accelerate the decomposition of organic matter. agricultural products and by-products. Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, representative of Probiotics Company (Thu Duc City), said that the unit built a process to culture and isolate four strains of beneficial microorganisms at high density, helping them to operate stably. , long lasting and increases efficiency.

In two competition tables, the Organizing Committee awarded second, third and consolation prizes to educational projects applying drone technology, electric bicycle production technology, and microbial products from black garlic to serve livestock farming. handheld, software for early diagnosis of liver cancer… In addition, the contest has additional robot assembly and programming tables for students to promote STEM education activities.
