Apple focuses on home security with a new smart doorbell equipped with Face ID

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his “Power On” newsletter, Apple is developing an innovative smart doorbell with a built-in camera that would use Face ID technology for facial recognition and automatic door unlocking. The launch of this device is expected, in the best case scenario, by the end of 2025. The operation of the unlocking system would be similar to that of iPhones: the door would open automatically upon recognition of the owner’s face or another resident. Gurman speculates that the device will be compatible with third-party HomeKit smart locks already on the market and does not rule out the possibility of Apple partnering with a smart lock company to offer a complete system from launch day.
