In some fields such as organ transplantation, stem cell technology, nuclear medicine, interventional endoscopy, interventional radiology, vaccines and biological products, Vietnam is on par with other countries in the region and the world.

“Application of new technology has helped transform the agricultural and rural economic structure, increase production value, bringing Vietnam into the group of leading exporters in the world of rice, coffee, pepper, cashew, rubber,” he said.

However, the General Secretary also assessed that the implementation of the mission of the team of intellectuals and scientists “still has many limitations compared to expectations and investments”.

According to the General Secretary, the number of works and inventions published in the world is still small, and there are not many breakthrough innovations or innovations. There are not many major creative works; There are not many strong scientific groups with prestige on par with the region and the world; Scientific research activities have not yet begun and have not met the hot demands of social life. There are not many elite and talented factors, and there is a serious shortage of leading experts in the industry; The next team has not really been cared for and nurtured; The contribution of intellectuals to the country’s socio-economic development is still modest and inadequate.

In front of 200 delegates who are intellectuals and scientists at the conference, the General Secretary requested scientists to make efforts to fulfill the responsibilities and missions of the team of intellectuals and scientists in the new period to achieve The goal is that by 2045, Vietnam will be a developed, high-income country.

“In particular, strive to have 100 inventions, inventions, and scientific works in the world science rankings by 2030,” he said. In addition, at least three Vietnamese scientific journals reach regional and world standards.

By 2045, the goal is for Vietnam’s intellectuals to be top in the region and top in the world; There are hundreds of influential scientists in the world, winning international awards in many fields. According to him, intellectuals and scientists must be the core force to bring Vietnam into the group of three leading countries in Southeast Asia in research and development of artificial intelligence; Group of 50 countries leading the world in terms of digital competitiveness and e-Government development index; There will be at least 5 digital technology enterprises on par with technology powers by 2030.
