German production air taxi company Volocopter has declared bankruptcy while it is looking for a new investor, the company announced from its headquarters in Bruchsal near Karlsruhe.
– The company needs financial resources that will enable it to take the last steps to enter the market – said the new bankruptcy administrator appointed by the court.
Volocopter still needs type certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to enable its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to carry passengers.
Volocopter continues under the assumption that an investor will be found next year, despite the fact that because on Thursday he submitted a request to initiate bankruptcy proceedings.
– In the national and international competition, we are far ahead in terms of techniques, flight experience and the certification process – said CEO Dirk Hoke. Hoke should leave the company at the end of February.
Last week, the German pioneer in the production of small electric planes Lilium found an investor who will save it from bankruptcy.
A consortium of investors, Mobile Uplift Corporation, has signed an agreement to purchase a startup that has been developing small electric aircraft with vertical take-off and landing for the past ten years, the Dpa agency recalls.
