A revolution in agriculture: Pitek and Rivolis join forces for smart irrigation

Oren Kind, CEO of Phytech: “The choice of Rivulis by Phytech emphasizes the importance of adopting digital technology in global agricultural activity, and is based on over a decade of successes, which include significant growth in revenues and a proven ability to expand monitoring solutions in the field.”

The Israeli ag-tech company Phytech, a leader in the field of solutions for digital agriculture, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Rivulis, one of the largest and most respected companies in the world in the field of precision irrigation. As part of the collaboration, Rivolis will offer Pitek’s digital agriculture solutions to farmers around the world. This is a significant step to promote sustainable agriculture through advanced technological solutions, which are accessible to farmers and help them improve the harvest, and make more economical use of resources.

Pitek, which employs about 200 people, half of them in Kfar Saba, has developed a mobile-friendly platform that combines predictive algorithms and tools for data analysis in crop plots. A sensor attached to each tree in an orchard or the stem of a plant in field crops continuously monitors its “thirst” for water and fertilizer and combines it with supporting environmental information. In this way, the platform provides accurate irrigation and fertilization recommendations in real time.

IoT devices provide end-to-end visibility of water tanks, pumps, filters, valves and thereby identify problems in real time, enable predictive maintenance and quick response to any problem. Without these “eyes” on the crop plots, farmers are forced to rely on manual checks of these key functions and in many cases they discover a problem after it has already caused damage.

Pitek’s technology is used by over 1,000 global towers. It is spread over 18,000 agricultural farms in the USA, Australia, Israel and other countries which together are responsible for 30% of the world production of almonds, 35% of the apple industry in the USA and 28% of the citrus industry in the USA. The company processes 25 million points information every day, representing over 45 million trees and helping its customers optimize their watering and fertilizing decisions in real time, which leads to savings Annual average of 25% in water, fertilizer and electricity while increasing the crop by 8%.

As part of the agreement, Rivolis integrated Pitek’s cloud solution for precise irrigation, Manna, which is based on real-time satellite images and provides growers with monitoring capabilities, insights and tailored recommendations. In the USA the integration of the systems also includes the Jain Logic solution and in Australia the Observant solution.

The strategic collaboration establishes Rivolis’ position as a global leader, and emphasizes its vision towards the future of precision agriculture – a combination of technology and data analysis brought by Pitek – with reliable irrigation solutions, which Rivolis makes accessible to farmers all over the world. Pitek’s technology can also allow marketers of irrigation solutions to enrich their services to growers through a proactive data approach.

Oren Kind, CEO of Phytech, stated: “We are proud of Rivolis’ choice of Phytech to lead the digital supply to farmers around the world. This selection highlights over a decade of successes, including significant revenue growth and a proven ability to expand field monitoring solutions and drive the adoption of digital technology in global agricultural operations.

This achievement is thanks to our farmers, whose commitment to breakthrough technologies drives our innovation. The collaboration will allow us to expand our unique solutions, which include hardware and software, to support farmers and ecosystems all over the world.” Kind added: “The collaboration with Rivolis, a global leader in irrigation and climate, indicates the growing importance of data-based solutions in modern agriculture. Together we intend to usher in a new era of sustainable agriculture that will benefit growers all over the world.”

Eran Usami, president of the irrigation division at Rivulis: “The partnership between Rivulis and Petak is a turning point in the development of modern agriculture. The combination of Pitak’s technological capabilities, with Rivulis’ precision irrigation solutions and distribution channels, allow farmers all over the world to make more informed decisions, save resources , and increase the yield. Together, we enable farmers from all over the world to grow with new standards of efficiency and sustainability, which is another step to promote food safety.”
