Samsung and Google present Eclipsa Audio, a new immersive audio technology

Sound bars and TVs in Samsung’s 2025 lineup will feature the immersive audio technology Eclipsa Audio developed between the South Korean firm and Google, which they hope to extend to more devices with a certification program.

Samsung has confirmed that the 2025 TV lineup including the Crystal UHD series and premium Neo QLED 8K models, as well as sound bars will incorporate Eclipsa Audio technology.

This technology, developed by Samsung and Google, has “the potential to change the way we experience sound,” said Google Chrome engineering vice president Jim Bankoski, in a press release.

With it, content creators will be able “adjust audio data such as the location and intensity of sounds, along with spatial reflections, to create an immersive three-dimensional sound experience“, they explain from Samsung.

Creators will be able to upload their videos with Eclipsa audio tracks to YouTube and users with Samsung TVs from the 2025 line will be able to watch them with this spatial audio technology when it becomes available.

The two companies are working on a certification program together with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to recognize devices that use this technology and facilitate their identification for consumers.

Samsung’s new televisions and sound bars will be exhibited at the consumer technology fair CES 2025which takes place from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas (United States).
