The world’s fastest bullet train is about to enter commercial operation

The train has a speed of 450 km/h on a test run from Tianjin to Beijing on December 25. The ship is shaped like an arrow when viewed from the side. The smooth, bullet-shaped nose has slightly angular lines, while the cabin has lights that flash with breathing. The latest image reveals the 8-car CR450 train model with the number covered with white tape, according to SCMP.

The CR450 bullet train, the latest high-speed train model, can operate at a speed of 400 km/h in commercial operations, significantly faster than the current Fuxing CR400 train running at 350 km/h. Compared with the CR400, the CR450 is 12% lighter, consumes 20% less energy and has a 20% improvement in braking performance, according to China Railway Corporation. The CR450 project also includes many technical improvements to infrastructure such as railways, bridges and highway tunnels.

China is building the world’s largest high-speed rail network to address the growing demand for convenient and comfortable travel. The total length of China’s active high-speed rail network is over 45,000 km, with the Fuxing train line running in 31 provinces and cities nationwide. This network transports more than 10 million passengers every day, reaching 96% of cities across the country, each city with a population of more than 500,000 people.

It is expected that the CR450 train can run on the central railway connecting Chengdu and Chongqing.
