Corning has taken advantage of the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to announce Gorilla Glass Armor 2, the new protective glass for smartphones that has an anti-reflective ceramic coating that increases resistance to drops and scratches.
“Gorilla Armor 2 is a historic achievement in glass-ceramic technology,” Corning says, highlighting its resistance and clarity, which makes it ideal protection for smartphones.
Specifically, it is better resistant to drops on hard surfaces, compared to the previous generation, since, according to internal tests, “it survived drops of up to 2.2 meters on a surface that imitated concrete.”
It also offers greater scratch resistance, up to four times that of lithium aluminosilicate glasses with anti-reflective coating. Added to this are its anti-reflective capabilities, which “dramatically reduce surface reflections both indoors and outdoors,” as explained in a press release.
This protective glass has been incorporated into the screen of the Galaxy S25 Ultra that Samsung presented this Wednesday, which runs on a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and incorporates new artificial intelligence functions, such as ‘Audio Eraser’.
