Rapid construction progress of the world’s tallest building

First introduced as Kingdom Tower, the project went through many name changes before finally being named Jeddah Economic Company Tower (or JEC Tower). The project was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, the most famous unit with the tallest building project in the world today, the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai (828 m), according to New Atlas.

Saudi Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud, who directs the project, confirmed that the giant tower will reach a height of more than 1 km. However, he also shared that the final height of the tower has not been decided and the building could be even higher. At its minimum height, the tower will be more than twice as tall as the Empire State Building and nearly twice as tall as America’s tallest skyscraper, One World Trade Center.

The project’s construction process stalled for a few years, but it has restarted and poured concrete up to the 64th floor. It is expected that each floor will be poured with concrete 4 days apart, showing significant progress in quite a while. short. According to Mr. Al Waleed, concrete can be pumped to a height of 800 m, but participating companies are looking to increase it to 1,000 m.

Once completed, the skyscraper’s spacious interior will include 59 elevators and 157 floors. The project will have the world’s highest observation point as well as a luxury hotel, multiple office spaces and high-end residential areas. This is phase 1 of a larger development project in the area, including a hospital, school, University and housing, along with many smaller buildings that can accommodate up to 100,000 people.

JEC Tower is still on track to be completed in 2028, along with many other projects in the Vision 2030 plan such as The Line and the Mukaab cube building.
