Samsung launches the Galaxy S25 series with upgraded artificial intelligence
Samsung announced last night (Wednesday) its new flagship series, Galaxy S25, which includes three versions: S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. The new devices include improvements in artificial intelligence and an optimized processor, an advanced camera and a design with rounded corners. The price will not be cheap starting from 800 dollars for the basic model and up to 1300 dollars for the ultra version. The devices are already available for pre-order and are expected to hit the shelves on February 7.

The launch of the S25 series is accompanied by the expansion of Samsung’s artificial intelligence platform, Galaxy AI, which was first introduced last year in the S24 series. The new devices include advanced AI capabilities, which aim to serve as a digital personal assistant and adapt the use of the device to the needs and habits of the users.

Some of the examples shown include looking up the schedule of a favorite soccer team and adding it to a calendar, or finding pet-friendly restaurants and sending them to a specific contact. These operations are done through a combination of several applications, including third-party applications such as Spotify and WhatsApp, alongside applications from Samsung and Google.

In addition, the artificial intelligence can change settings on the device according to the user’s request, a step that brings the devices closer to the model of a real personal assistant. Apple, a main competitor of Samsung, introduced its artificial intelligence platform, Apple Intelligence, last year with the launch of the iPhone 16 series. Both Apple and Samsung see artificial intelligence as an important tool for creating uniqueness in devices in a market saturated with competition.

According to analysts, Samsung is investing heavily in developing its AI capabilities, but these improvements likely won’t prompt consumers to upgrade devices immediately. According to them, the new devices are particularly suitable for those who own a device that is three or four years old, but are less enticing for users with more recent devices.

As part of the effort to improve performance, Samsung and Qualcomm developed a processor adapted to the S25 series – Snapdragon 8 Elite, the fastest processor to date in Galaxy devices. The processor is designed to handle heavy AI workloads with low power consumption, to ensure that the battery does not drain quickly.

Other improvements include an advanced camera in the S25 Ultra model and a new design with rounded corners, instead of the angular design that characterized the previous devices.

The launch comes after a challenging year for Samsung, which saw a 2.7% drop in its smartphone shipments. Samsung remains the second largest player in the market in terms of sales volume, after Apple, but faces increasing pressure from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Vivo and Transsion, which offer devices with advanced specifications at low prices.

In Israel, the various networks have already started pre-ordering. The Partner company was the first to publish the prices that are expected to be similar in the corresponding chains. The price for the basic device with a volume of 128 megabytes will reach 3,200 shekels, the plus device with a volume of 512 megabytes will reach 5,049 shekels, and the most expensive device in the ultra model with a volume of 1 terabyte will reach 6,600 shekels.
