Russian cancer vaccine would be available at the end of this year

A cancer vaccine, developed by the Russian government, could be accessible to the public at the end of this year, Sputnik agency reported.

In a video published in its profile on the social network X, it was reported that it is a personalized vaccine, which introduces a modified messenger ribonucleic acid molecule into the patient’s body through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which, which It allows each vaccine to be personalized for a specific individual.

When introducing this molecule, it modifies the genetic code in such a way that it causes cancer cells to synthesize specific proteins that help the body’s immune system to identify and eradicate them.

In addition, it was reported that more than 80 percent of the rodents to which this vaccine was supplied had a reduction in the size of their tumors.

According to the video, a group of biochemical experts can make a vaccine for a specific patient in approximately one week. The cost of this treatment would be around 3,95 US dollars (around 64 thousand 135 Mexican pesos); however, patients from several medical centers would receive it for freethey claim.

This treatment was carried out in a joint work between the Gamaleya Epidemiology and Microbiology Research Center (the same one that created the Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19), the HERTSEN Institute of Oncological Research and the Blokhin Center for Cancer Research. All, based in Russia.

Likewise, statements of Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Center that were made in 2024, in which he affirmed that the treatment would have character of universal and that would be effective for all cancer variants.

The use of artificial intelligence in vaccines

According to international studies presented at the Annual Congress of the European Society of Medical Oncology, conducted in 2024, in which more than 30 thousand doctors, specialists and researchers from around the world met, the use of AI will have a fundamental effect for everything type of treatments in the future.

This algorithm works a database of more than one billion images of tumors of about 30 thousand patients in the United States, allowing it to be able to detect a series of molecular anomalies and mutations that the human eye cannot see, said Fabrice André, Director of Research of the French Center against Cancer Gustave-Roussy.

At that time, doctors trusted that the use of AI could lead to personalized treatments for each patient and great results were tested against cancer using a combination of radiotherapy immunotherapy before surgery, which provides patients a higher survival.

Organ preservation

In the cases studied in that Congress, it was analyzed that this type of treatments administered before surgery allow more and more to preserve the organs in cancer cases, Fabrice André explained.

A study showed encouraging results about the ability to preserve the rectum in cases of cancer that affects this part of the digestive tract, once the treatments allowed the complete disappearance of the tumor.

Until now the standard was surgery, But it seems that we are entering a new era, in which the operation could be avoidedcelebrated David Sebag-Montefiore, oncologist and professor at the University of Leeds, located in the United Kingdom.

It is an important advance that could be applied to other types of lymphomas, such as those belonging to the lungic lung sphere.
