The heaviest cargo ship in the world specializes in building wind turbines

At a cost of about US $ 768 million, Japan’s new heavy cargo ships are expected to work in 2028, helping to build offshore wind farms.

Two Japanese companies Penta -ceean Construction and Fuyo General Lease cooperate in producing the two largest ships in the world specializing in offshore wind farms, Interesting Engineering January 29 reported. The duo includes heavy cargo ships (coach) and cable -based ships (CLV), aiming to support Japan to increase the ability to produce offshore wind power.

Expected to be completed in 2028, the coach has a unique design with a 5,000 -ton rotating crane. The U -shaped design in the tail helps reduce the movement of the ship, ensuring the ability to install the turbine pillar safely and effectively even in difficult conditions. The design of the ship is optimized to install the increasingly and heavier pillars of the wind turbine with a capacity of 15 – 20 MW, meeting the requirements of modern offshore wind power farms.

At a cost of about 768 million USD, the coach is part of the Japanese renewable energy infrastructure strategy. The ship integrates many advanced environmental technologies, including battery storage system and specifications ready to switch to methanol fuel, suitable for global trends towards neutralization of carbon. In addition, the ship is also equipped with a high -power dynamic positioning system (Classk DPS2) with 9 push sets, providing the ability to navigation necessary for the accurate installation of cylindrical columns.

Meanwhile, CLV is expected to become the largest and most advanced cables in the world with an estimated cost of 198.4 million USD. The ship will play an important role in the installation of electric cables, essential components not only for floating winding farms and fixed types to the seabed, but also with the transmission of the DC electricity.

Japan is speeding up the development of offshore wind facilities attached to the seabed, initially in the port areas, then hoping to expand to the common sea. The development of the world’s largest duo is an action to meet the larger wind turbine installation needs – which is becoming a standard thanks to higher capacity and efficiency.

The Penta-C Construction aims to promote offshore wind power by providing the necessary tools to build safely and effectively. This is suitable for other national initiatives in Japan such as investing in Perovskite solar cells and experimenting with thermonuclear technology, aiming to decrease depending on traditional energy sources.
