Electronic Arts talks about Apex Legends 2, the franchise will last decades

During a recent conference call on the results of the third quarter of 2025, the CEO of Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, turned to investors regarding the future of Apex Legends, the popular title Battle Royale Free-to-play. Six years after its surprise launch, Apex Legends boasts “tens of millions” of regular players, consolidating its position as a key franchise for EA. While there is a significant update in conjunction with the release of the new Battlefield title (scheduled before April 2026), Wilson’s comments have suggested a long -term vision for the game, including the potential for a more substantial evolution.

Wilson underlined the belief of the company that Apex Legends has the potential to become a long -lasting franchise, extending for decades. He said: “Our expectation is that Apex will also be one of those franchises that will last 10, 20, 30 years”. This statement underlines EA’s commitment to the game and its continuous development. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of Wilson’s speech was the suggestion of a future “Apex 2.0”. Although the details remain scarce, this terminology implies a more complete review than a typical update. Wilson described it as “an even larger and more significant update of the experience”, indicating a potential reimagination of the main game mechanics, content or even basic technology. He clarified that the imminent update together with the release of the new Battlefield will not be the latest iteration of Apex Legends, further fueling speculations on the scope of this future “2.0” version.
