Proper Disclosure: I am addicted to strategy games, and as more complex, content and meaningful decisions are even better. That’s why I was happy to put my hand as soon as possible about a copy of the game “civilization 7”, the last title in the Civilization series, which brought a series of changes from two game, most of them for the better, but managed to preserve the addictive experience that makes you humble in the head “Just another queue”.
For those who are unfamiliar with the series, in Civilization (developed by Firaxis Games and distributed by K2), you are given the opportunity to control and monitor the development of human culture, from the stone period, of the first settlement days, to modern days. You choose a leader and culture (in the past it was one choice), settle in a remote corner of an unfamiliar world, or if you are lucky in a full corner of resources. You are researching the world, discovering more cultures that share the area with you, with some you will be friends, with most of them you will fight. As you explore the world, you climb the tree of knowledge (technological research) and also learn new cultural abilities (cultural research). This allows you to promote time with new units (such as fighters or advanced scientists) and build new structures such as temples, schools and of course world wonders. This whole wonderful format was also preserved wonderfully in Cigo 7, but the upgrades took the wonderful experience for more focused.
Intermediate: different and strange cultures
There are two prominent changes in the game this year: choosing cultures and progress at times. This is certainly not the only changes, and we will touch the rest, but those most affect the core of the CIV series. As we mentioned at the beginning of each game you choose the culture you want to start, and there are quite a few to choose from them. But if we had to choose one leader who came with his culture and that is what we accompanied us from the stone period to the age of space, then there is now a twist. We are still choosing one leader who will stay with us throughout, but the leader can lead several different cultures, and they change over the years.
True, Ben Franklin must not lead America to a world victory, and perhaps Napoleon at all ruled Spain. We have the options to build different and strange cultures over the years, thanks to this blessed change to game mechanics. Because in the past, as we said, the game was conducted as one unit from the stone period to modern times, now each game consists of three different and unique stages: Antique (the first rapid and wars), Exploration (Discovering of the Dryer, Sailing and Floor Dust), and the rebellious era that focuses on industry and development. Each stage has different victory conditions, but only in the third stage are victory conditions in the entire game.
The first two stages are designed to allow players to get special bonuses and prepare their culture to the final stage. This move is designed to meet reviews about the previous shape of Civilization, where most of the important things were done in the first 100 teachings of the game, and then it deteriorated. In the new method, almost every queue is significant to the end.
Another wonderful thing that happens in the transition between period and period is the development of your empire. For example, you may have started with Rome by Augustus, but until you reached the rebel era you have already chosen to move to Spanish culture and then American. During each period, as mentioned, you are researching unique technologies and cultural symbols for the country you have chosen – since the special buildings of cultures are very unique to them in the mirror, it creates interesting and beautiful layers throughout the empire.
Basans outside, the time of quarters
As we said at first, much more changed in the game this year. For barbarian enthusiasts, they are no longer with us, at least not as we have known. From now on, independent cities, some of which are friendly and some hostile. Using a new resource that joined this year called “Effect”, we can make those allies, and even send them to attack neighboring states, the style of Houthis. And before you ask, prize in the game, and I played with them and it was wonderful. We also received an honor, Jerusalem that previously appeared as an independent city I did not discover, but the Samaritans make a brave premiere as an independent city. In general, if they speak of influence, the whole diplomatic issue has undergone a welcome change, with much more options and alliances that are really significant to victory or loss.
This year, new units are joined by the battlefield: the generals. They were already in the game as special people, but now these are the most important units in battle. Your general can “contain” within it a number of other combative units, and move them quickly on the map, arrange them before an attack, and from now on the soldiers who receive the promotion is the general, and these promotions are two game. Whoever left us this year is the builders. The management of the city has become simpler, thank God, and from now on you will have a limited number of cities and at the same time you will have to know the term town, which means a small city that mainly feeds the big cities. The issue of construction itself has also changed and less rigid in the past, from now on two structures on one area, and also rebuilding old -fashioned buildings. In short, there is a lot to do.
The game also underwent significant improvements in graphics compared to the previous title. The game presents a more detailed and realistic artistic style, with improved 3D models of units, buildings and landscapes. The lighting in the game has been improved, and now includes shadow games and dynamic effects that change according to an hour and the seasons. The world maps have also become more detailed, with new textures and rich vegetation. The mountains look like mountains, the rivers that can now be navigated through this boats is a great addition, and the natural disasters have never looked better.
