The artificial intelligence (AI) is a “fundamental restructuring of technology” that will act as an “accelerator of human ingenuity”, according to a speech by the chief of Google SUCBLE Pichai who had AFP access on Monday.
“We are still in the first days of the AI paradigm shift, and we already know that it will be the greatest of our lives,” said Pichai, according to extracts of his speech to world leaders and heads of the technological industry, gathered in Paris.

Detecting the appearance of forest fires in satellite images or detecting and treating cancer, thanks to an alliance with the Curie Institute are some of the examples chosen by Pichai.
Demis Hassabis, the head of the Google’s Deepmind Research Laboratory, also highlighted the potential of technology at an event on Sunday at Google offices in Paris.
“SCIENCE OF MATERIALS, MATHEMATICS, FUSION … There is virtually no area of science that does not benefit from these AI tools,” said the laureate with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Pichai has already announced that Google would invest 75,000 million dollars this year, mainly in AI.
“With AI we have the opportunity to democratize access (to a new technology) from the beginning, and make sure that the digital gap does not become a AI gap,” he explained.
The concept of a “digital gap” refers to the gap between people with or without easy access and familiarity with internet and modern communication technologies.
“Each generation cares about whether the new technology will change the next generation lives for the worst – and yet, it is almost always the opposite,” according to Pichai’s text.
“We must not let our own bias to the present get in the way of the future. We have a unique opportunity in a generation of improving lives at the AI scale, ”he explained.
