Brain interface – the first two -way computer in the world

Research groups from Thien Tan University and Thanh Hoa University develop brain – computer interface (BCI) for the first two -way adaptation in the world, which can be integrated into wear and mobile devices soon For medical and consumer purposes. Since the 1970s, BCI has allowed users to control machinery by thinking through the conversion of brain signals into instructions. The initial research focused on supporting people with disabilities, but today, BCI can be applied to the game, control the drone without hand and many other interactive technologies.

Traditional BCI has a big limitation: they operate in one direction. This means that the brain does not receive feedback to be able to adjust and polish control. Over time, this lack of adaptation leads to impaired performance.

The new system allows the brain and machine to learn from each other, unlike traditional BCI only decoding brain signals. This interaction ensures stable performance over time, is an important step to help BCI more reliable in daily applications.

In the new study, the team of experts found changes in brain signals are not only random fluctuations due to emotions or fatigue but also affected by the brain interacting with BCI. Based on that, they develop a dual bracelet using Memristor chip – Neuron network -saving hardware -saving hardware components – to create a more natural interaction between the brain and the machine.

“Compared to traditional digital BCI, our dual ring system increases more than 100 times, while reducing the power consumption of 1,000 times,” said Xu Minpeng from Tianjin University, co -author New research, said.

New technology also allows users to perform more complex tasks. Traditional BCI usually only provides two degrees of freedom, such as moving drone up and down. However, the new system offers 4 freedoms, adding backward and rotating movements, all controlled by brain signals.

The team conducted 6 -hour tests with 10 participants and found that the adaptive system increased the accuracy of about 20% compared to BCI who did not adapt. With a two -way interaction between the brain and the machine, the new system is a great step towards bringing BCI into daily life, from rehabilitation of medical function to consumer electronics.
