Muse, Xbox’s AI that generates game sequences to support developers’ work

Xbox, in collaboration with Microsoft Research, has developed an generative artificial intelligence model (AI) that has the ability to generate consistent and diverse game sequences.

Muse is a model of human and world action (WHAM) that has been trained with the Bleeding Edge multiplayer battle sand video game, the Ninja Theory studio.

Its development aims to “explore the abilities that models need as muse to effectively support human creatives,” as they expose from Microsoft Research.

The researchers have highlighted the detailed understanding of this model the world of the game in three dimensions, which allows it to generate “complex game sequences that are consistent over several minutes”, including visual elements and command actions.

“This allows the model to create a consistent and diverse gameplay generated by AI, which demonstrates a great step towards generative models that can enhance game creators,” they say from Xbox.

Muse is currently a conceptual prototype. Developers may experiment with pesos, sample data and interactive interface in Azure Ai Foundry.
