The ‘artificial’ robot is muscular and real bones

Poland Clone Clone Robotics introduces protoclone robotic prototype with more than 200 steps of freedom and 500 sensors, Interesting Engineering On 20/2 reported. Clone Robotics uses Myofiber technology, attaching artificial muscles to exact positions to move the bone like animals.

In the Myofiber system, basically, each muscle has a mesh form with a ball inside. The ball expands when the liquid is pumped in, tying the net to shrink vertically. A 500 W electric pump is the “heart” of the robot, hydraulic liquid pump at 40 liters per minute and a pressure of 100 psi.

The robot also has its own nervous system, including 4 depth cameras in the skull to observe, 70 inertial sensors to identify joint positions and 320 pressure sensors for force feedback at the level of muscle level. This setup will allow the robot to respond immediately to visual feedback, and study tasks just by observing users doing them.

In the newly announced video, protoclone prototype is hung in a workshop manufacturing and performing manual movements. The prototype is using the pneumatic system but will switch to the hydraulic system when further development. Unlike other people -shaped robots, it has synthetic systems that mimic human, musculoskeletal, blood vessels and nerves.

Clone Robotics called Protoclone a human -shaped robot with two legs and skeletal muscles in the world, although before that, the JSK lab of Tokyo University once introduced a similar human -shaped robot, Kengoro, in 2017. , Kengoro is only designed as a research tool, while Clone Robotics is aimed at commercial applications. In the future, robots can do housework such as washing, washing dishes, preparing simple meals and vacuuming carpet.

Protoclone has not shown the ability to walk like Tesla’s Optimus and Atlas -shaped robots of Boston Dynamics. However, compared to these rivals, protoclone has a more human body shape with more realistic movement.
