Photoshop arrives on iPhone with desktop ambitions

The evolution of digital creation tools continues with the introduction by Adobe of a mobile version of Photoshop that aims to replicate the desktop experience. This new application is proposed as a complete work environment, integrating advanced editing functionality, design and generative artificial intelligence. This development marks a significant step forward compared to the previous mobile offer, Photoshop Express, which while maintaining some basic functions, did not reach the depth and versatility of the desktop version.

The new mobile application is part of a wider ecosystem, connecting to Photoshop on the web and other Creative Cloud applications, thus facilitating the continuity of the workflow between different devices. Access to a set of basic editing tools, including selection and masking tools, is available in the free version, while advanced features such as the object selection, magic wand and conscious filling tools of the content are reserved for subscriber users.

The integration of artificial intelligence technologies, such as generative Fill and generative expands, further enriches the creative abilities of the application, allowing users to manipulate and generate images innovatively. Adobe’s strategy seems oriented to consolidate its position in the mobile editing applications market, which is increasingly competitive. The decision to offer advanced functionality by subscription reflects the will to monetize the investment in development and to differentiate the offer compared to the numerous alternatives available.

The coexistence of the new application with Photoshop Express and Adobe Express raises questions regarding the long -term strategy of the company. The possible overlap of functionality and the diversity of subscription models could generate confusion between users. However, the introduction of a mobile version of Photoshop that approaches the skills of the desktop version represents a significant evolution, responding to the needs of professionals and enthusiasts who want a mobile and complete creative work environment.
