The world’s largest automatic port operation project is progressing smoothly. TUAS Port successfully handled 10 million containers from the start of operation in September 2022 and is expected to increase to 65 million containers each year in the 2040s, when completing the development of phase 4, New Atlas On 2/3 reported.

10 million is an important milestone for a fully automatic container port when testing technology before merging other ports with this facility in the next few years. That will help reduce cargo transportation by inter -port trucks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the port.

A control center near the port will have staff monitoring and operating remote vehicles and cranes through the large screen displaying the digital version of the facility, especially the electric driving team automatically charging fast (AGV) moves through the port, transporting container on the chassis frame. Each car can carry up to two 6 m long containers or a 12 m long container at up to 25 km/h.

A fleet at TUAS port includes more than 200 AGVs, using radio identification technology (RFID) to communicate with underground broadcasting systems, sharing positions in real time to accurate positioning and avoid collision. According to Nikkei Asia, it is almost impossible to see any workers at the port between a series of AGV cars with yellow unmanned. AGV operates through the central fleet management system, can run up to 6 hours after each 20 -minute charging. The vehicle has a continuous communication design, meaning even when the network system in the port is broken, the vehicle can still be safely controlled.

Singapore Maritime and Port Agency will promote the digitalization of the operations of TUAS ports with the new generation circulation management system, helping to monitor traffic in the port in real time with AI and satellites. PSA Singapore, the port operator, plans to increase the number of AGV fleets by 200 when the facility is about to be completed. Equipment and gas vehicles will help reduce the carbon emissions of the port compared to the current diesel -powered machinery. The facility will also use the intelligent electric network management system, including buildings designed to use less than 60% of electricity than the same scale, and produce solar power.

TUAS Port began operating in 2022 with 3 stops. As of February 2025, the port has 6 stops and 500 workers, expected to increase in the next few years. The entire Singapore processed 41.12 million 6 m long containers (TEU) in 2024. After the completed TUAS port, the figure will increase to more than 65 million TEU.
