The “unique” competition is about to take place in the economic and technological development area in the Southeast of Beijing (also known as Beijing E -Town). It is expected that on April 13, the marathon will gather both athletes and robots competing at the same distance of 21 km, according to Interesting Engineering. Opening registration from March 5, the number of people and robots participating in the contest is increasing rapidly. Chinese authorities also announced a number of new rules on the event.

In the robot category, the organizers set the maximum time to complete the registration distance of 3 hours 30 minutes. Unlike athletes, robots can change the battery between the race or replace the robot to run in series. However, each change comes with a 10 -minute penalty that is added to the total running time of the team.

Only robot -shaped robot designs are allowed to maintain the tradition of running on the legs of the marathon. The robot must be 0.5 – 2 m high, any machine moving by wheels or more legs is eliminated. Both the remote and automatic control robot can play, but the team is in charge must ensure no harm to the track, nearby people or another robot.

Participants will be evaluated not only based on the time of completing the race but also based on technical regulations. The top three positions will receive bonuses of 697, 558 and 418 USD respectively, along with special certification of durability and creative design. Groups from research institutes, universities and robots around the world are encouraged to register, contributing to enhancing international cooperation in the field of human -shaped robots.

Beijing E-Town aims to develop urban towns, recently announced a two-year route to provide 10,000 positions for robots, of which 1,000 for human-shaped robots, in the program worth nearly 686 million USD. These positions will spread in 9 fields, including high -class production, health care and education. Large companies like JD, Xiaomi Automotive, and Bayer tested the production robot for many jobs such as quality and packaging, with the goal of integrating more than 5,000 units at the end of the next year.

It is expected that this person’s robot will be deployed in a high -risk environment such as factories, power plants and mines to reduce danger and save energy for workers. Due to the skyrocketing demand, the Chinese -shaped robot market worth about $ 380 million last year and will reach $ 10.34 billion in 2029.
