Instagram is working on a new community chat function, which will allow users to organize groups of up to 250 people in the application, which will have a similar operation that currently offers the ‘streaming’ discord content platform.
The expert developer in reverse engineering Alessandro Paluzzi has shared a screenshot of this feature, with which the one that targets, owner of the platform, “seeks to connect users with other people and share with them their interests.

Unlike the current transmission channels of the platform, Instagram Live, where creators maintain a channel only for their followers and share information in real time, community chats will allow to publish content to all users who are members and may be up to 250 members.
They will also have moderation tools and administrators can delete messages or block users if necessary to help keep the channel safe, as indicated in the notification shared by Paluzzi, suggesting that they will have a similar operation to Discord.
A company spokesman has confirmed that this function is an internal prototype, which is not being tested outside the company, as published by Engadget. They have also recalled that other Meta services, such as WhatsApp and Messenger, already have this feature.
